Lost touch with people

THE July 17 issue contained a letter of a derogatory nature referring to Llais Gwynedd, the party I and others joined when its prime movers organised an explanatory meeting in Porthmadog. Read

Town’s toilets are a disgrace

PORTHMADOG is one of the chief tourist attractions in North Wales and a town we would all like to be proud of. Read

Memories of Bryn Seiont hospital

CAERNARFON’S Bryn Seiont Hospital holds a mixture of memories for me from the time when I was a young man in the late 1940s. It is a link with a grim period in the 1930s when tuberculosis was a scourge in the district. Read

There's no place for Doc Fictoria in Caernarfon

IT may surprise your correspondent I Owen that I am in agreement with most of the sentiments expressed in the letter “Listen to Cofis”. Read

Thank you for show success

ON behalf of the management team of the North Wales Agricultural Society, I would like to thank everyone who supported our annual show at Wern Ddu Fields, Bethel Road, Caernarfon, on Saturday, July 5. Read

Labour voters have lost faith

I WAS going to write on an entirely different topic until I read “Old and new must bond” and “Key Points” (Herald, July 3). Read

Maes will be the envy of all

I DESPAIR at the attitude expressed by some of your recent correspondents towards the town centre redevelopment, some even advocating a return to the old Caernarfon! Read

I rarely shop in the walled town anymore

I VERY much echo the words of Paula Morris-Jones (Herald, June 26). Unlike her, I merely visit Caernarfon as a shopper but, alas, very rarely these days. Read

Fined for parking in front of home

I’M sure people are tired of having to listen to more complaints about Gwynedd Council but, unfortunately, the council does not do itself any favours. Read

MAY I take this opportunity to congratulate Robert Wright on his MBE, a well-deserved award for an individual who is willing to give of his time for others. Read

Local goods are on sale ... locally!

I WAS utterly taken aback to read the letter from RO Morris, of Cilgwyn, which appeared in the Herald last Thursday. Read

£2.5m cash aid has made town worse!

I WAS fortunate to start working in Caernarfon in October, 2003, and since that time I have as an “English outsider” learned to love the town and its people. Despite my lack of Welsh, I have been accepted and welcomed by everyone. Read

I LIVE in Dinas Dinlle with my wife and three daughters, and we walk and cycle the length and width of the beach.

We pass the so called picnic area on the front daily and notice with disgust that the grass is a metre high. All we could see of the visitors eating their food were their heads, and my six-year-old daughter nearly got lost in there. Read

Hospital politics

I WOULD like to thank Martin Eaglestone for kindly welcoming me to the Letters page (Herald, June 5). Read

Vindicated over school closure row

WITHOUT sounding unduly self-righteous isn’t vindication a wonderful thing. Read

Traffic chaos

KINDLY permit a few observations by a long-standing ratepayer as regards changes and so-called improvements in and out of town in Caernarfon. Read

County’s shameful acts against town’s heritage

MAY I air a few views and concerns? The latest “event” of cutting down a much-adored chestnut tree seems to be one of a number of questionable incidents in Caernarfon over the years. Read
